According to The National Weather Service Forecast Office, baseball-sized hail impacted a large portion of the area on March 29, 2012, damaging residential and commercial properties, and leaving residents and business owners fighting their insurance companies for the compensation they were promised in their contracts.
The hailstorm was so extensive that baseball sized hail accumulated, coating the ground and leaving McAllen looking like a winter storm had passed through. Further, the significant windstorm that accompanied the hail caused extensive damage to countless homes and businesses.
